Softball Division Descriptions

Pee-Wee / T-Ball (5 & 6 years old):
Designed to ease beginning players into the game of softball. This is a girl only leauge where players learn the basic fundamentals of throwing, catching and hitting. Games are an hour long, and every player bats and plays in the field each inning. Players hit a smaller sized, reduced injury softball from a hitting tee. Game scores are not recorded.

Bantams / Coach Pitch (7 & 8 years old):
These players are learning the fundamentals of the game. Each player bats and plays in the field every inning. A smaller sized; reduced injury softball is used. Coaches pitch to their players and are allowed on the field during the game to assist players in defensive assignments. Game scores are not recorded. Last part of season, players begin pitching to players.

Minors (9 & 10 years old):
Players in this league should know the fundamentals of the game. Coaches begin assigning player's positions, yet each player is given the opportunity to play several defensive positions during league play. Players begin pitching from 35 feet to the batters, and stealing and bunting are introduced at this level.

Majors (11 & 12 years old):
Players in this league should know the fundamentals of the game. Coaches begin assigning player's positions. Players pitch from 40 feet to the batters. Stealing and bunting are allowed and encouraged.

Juniors (13 & 14 years old):
Players in this league should know the fundamentals of the game. Coaches begin assigning player's positions. Players pitch from 40 feet to the batters. Stealing and bunting are allowed and encouraged.


Frequently Asked Questions

What is the birthday cut-off date for determining league eligibility?
December 31 is the date used by Little League to determine a player's league age. Click here to see the Softball Division League Age Chart.

When will we find out our team and coach?
Team rosters will be completed in early March. Coaches will contact their players soon after they have been given their rosters.

When do practices and league play begin?
Practices may begin in late March. League play for both baseball and softball begins May 2 and will end in early July.

When are practices scheduled and how often will we practice?
Practice dates and frequency are determined on a team by team basis by each coach.

How many games will each team play?
The number of games scheduled is determined by the number of teams in each league. In the past, schedules have consisted of 16 games.

Will a league's games be assigned to specific days of the week?
No. Games will be scheduled throughout the week for every league. No games will be scheduled on Sunday. Some Saturday games may be scheduled but should be rare this year.

How many games per week will be scheduled for my team?
A team will typically play 2 games per week.
